I just had the elastic on my braces but what about if i dont use them?

Today I just had the elastic on, only on my left side... and im about 3 month to finish my treatment.. but they told me to use is on the left side 24/7. but i really dont want to go to the schol with the elastic on so i would skip those hours that im in the school.. but after school and weekend i will use everyday , do u think that there is gonna b a big diferent or not?

Your teeth WILL NOT move if you don't wear them 20 hours per day every single day!!! If you wear them for 10 hours and then take them off until the next day, any progress that you have made will relapse immediatly. You will not finish treatment until you wear them at least 20 hours per day 7 days per week. Even if you have your braces on for the next 10 years!

That's stupid.  3 months isn't much considering you want to have a lifetime of great teeth.  Think about how much you've been through already, are you really going to ruin it for 3 measly months.  Just do it, it's not as bad as you think.

If you don't use them you might have to have your braces on longer... or the teeth will not move to where they are suppose to be located.

I had braces for three years. I had the elastics for about 1 and a half years of those three. I would agree, It will take longer for your teeth to move if you don't wear them as directed. I just took them out before lunch and put them back in after.

If your afraid that it will be embarrassing or something I wouldn't worry about it. Alot of people around you have and do have braces and have gone through elastics.

Please wear them 24/7 like your orthodontist said. When you eat, take them off, and put new ones back in. Last week I was given two elastics to wear, and if I hadn't worn them as well as I did, I wouldn't be getting my braces off this Tuesday! Really wear them, it makes all the difference.

if you dont wear it as much as they tell you to, i guarantee that it will take longer than 3 months to finish your treatment. your teeth will not move enough in that amount of time if they arent allowed to move continuously.
