are squealing / squeeking, even when I don't hit the brakes. Although it gets worse when I brake. The problem is that I am away from home so I cannot take the car back to the garage where they "fixed" the brakes. Is this urgent or not?

Thx,

  1. no. sometimes if they put cheap pads on there they will squeak. either that or some dust got in there

  2. That squeaking without brake pressure applied is almost always the pads.  Rotors would sound more like a metallic scratching.  Sounds like bad pads to me.

  3. There are many cheap disc brakes out there & you may have gotten an imported knock off of the original equipment. Happens all the time. They warped because of the low grade metals & the wheels were probably reinstalled with an impact wrench warping them from the start. Now that is just a theory of course. Another thing to consider is the pads were just as cheap as the rotors. Take a wheel off yourself and have a good look at them. You don't need any special tools to do that except the tire change kit in the trunk. Take it from there after you look at them.

  4. They might have not changed the rotors, just resurfaced them.and the pads are conforming to the worn rotors.

  5. could be cheap pads or a dust cover ... remove the wheel and look could be something loose... most likey just cheap pads or dust cover which both you can fix for the dust cover just push it back some easy and  as for the pads they are easy to replace .. doesnt need a shop for that either once you know how its done just as easy as changing a flat tire... cost like 20 bucks 30 for good ones

  6. Hopefully you got your brakes done at a national chain so you have a coast to coast warranty. If you had them done at some shade tree hillbilly shop, there is not alot you can get done for free. You can call the manager and explain the situation and ask what they suggest doing.

  7. Go someplace where they offer a free brake check. It may be nothing, but, I like to err on the side of caution.

It sounds like a loose, bad, or missing anti-rattle clip. Do you have a steering wheel vibration? It could also be a loose wheel.  You won't know until you look. It's easier, and less stressful, to have it checked out.

  8. it could be

    cheap brakes

    breaks not put on right

wire might me to low meaning when your breaks are low you get the scriching noise but can happen on new ones if its not done right

no a big deal but still get it check

better be save then sorry lol
