It was like a lifetime movie! In the dream i was in the woods/park with my family but we got separated for a little bit and i got a text message on my phone that was a picture of me where i was standing at that moment and it said "i see you" but i looked around and didn't see anyone. A few days later in my dream i there was a warning on the news about a 6'4" escaped criminal. Then I got and IM of the same picture and it said "that is you". In the dream i knew that it was the 6'4" criminal sending the messages, i don't know how. So it was pretty apparent to me that he was stalking me and going to rape and murder me. It was so scary that it woke me up and i didn't realize it wasn't real for a while. My worst fear is serial killers/rapist/murderers. I'm still kinda scared, how do i calm down and not worry about serial killers trying to get me now?

  1. Write it as a short story or a short film script.

You could have a variety of endings like choose you own adventure-you could make a humorous twist at the end. You might even sell it or win a prize.

  2. For starters try and realize that is was just a dream. Separate it from reality. Don't worry unless you have an accurate reason to.

  3. i have had a dream sort of like yours and i had to go see a counselor or talk to someone that can help its the only way to really feel safe and get over it

  4. Take a deep breath, release it and relax.

Your dream is highlighting your worst fear.  It's a message.  You feel powerless.  Your dream is telling you that you need to do several things:

    1.  Find a way to be less helpless in that situation

    2.  Understand your real probability of being in that situation

Nothing drives away fear than confidence and knowledge.  If you feel confident that you can take care of yourself, you will feel less afraid.  You might consider a buying a pepper-spray key chain or taking a martial arts class or self-defence class.  Lots of places have them.  Sometimes just the confidence you show in your body language is enough to keep "bad guys" away.  They are opportunists and look for easy victims.  A confident walk is sometimes enough to have them look elsewhere.

Also, understand that your chances of running into a monster like you've described are low.  These scenes are dramatic and scary, but the number of real instances of this happening are low.  That said, rapists are real and more numerous than the 6'4" escaped criminal from the movies.

Create a plan to help you feel safe:  Get a dog, buy some pepper-spray, take a martial arts class.

Keep your eyes open and listen to your gut.  If a situation feels bad, it just might be so avoid it.

I worked with a girl who was a brown belt in Tae Kwon Do.  One night she was running in the park and someone jumped her trying to rape her.  They arrested him for attempted rape in his hospital bed.  She broke his collar bone.
