So I just installed Norton 360, and firefox just completely forgets my previously-visited sites the second I close the browser. The settings in firefox are set for it to remember sites for 9 days, but it doesn't. I'm fairly sure I've accidentally set Norton to do this, and now I want to know how to change that setting.

  1. Just get rid of Norton.  It is trash.  It wants to control your entire computer.  It is a resource hog.  It changes personal settings.  And it is not all the easy to remove.

You will be much better off using one of the free anti virus software programs that are available from the web.  I'll list a few that I have used, with much success, for many years.  Also included are a couple of anti spyware programs that also work extremely well.

All of the following are free, and work very well.

    AVG

  2. Hi runswith...,

This is Mike from the Norton Authorized Support Team responding to your question about Norton 360 and Firefox.

First, make sure that you are using Norton 360 2.0 and that you have the latest program and definition files applied by manually running LiveUpdate. If you are still using Norton 360 version 1.x, you are entitled to a free update as long as your subscription is current.  You can update (using internet Explorer 5.5 or higher) by visiting the Norton Update Center at the following location.

    http://www.symantec.com/home_homeoffice/...

Also make sure that you are running the latest version of Firefox as well.

Open Norton 360 2.0, click on the "Settings" link at the top of the window, and then make sure there is no check in the box next to "Firefox Privacy Cleanup."

    1. Open Firefox 3 and go to "Tools," ->"Options,"-> "Privacy."

    2. De-select the check box next to "Always Clear My Private Data.."

    3.  Click on the "Settings" button next to "Private Data" and then de-select all of the checks in the boxes and then click "OK" and then "OK" again.

    4.  Close Firefox and then reopen it and check the settings again.

Your Private Data, etc, will now only be cleared when you initiate it and re-check the boxes under the "Settings" button for the options you wish.

    Thank you,

    Mike
