Any suggestions on the best way to do this? I can take the mat out and wash it, but what about the rug? Is there a good cleaning solution that will clean it and dry it?

  1. I hope that's the heater core you replaced.

It's almost impossible to clean all the antifreeze out of the carpeting and padding while it's in place. You really need to pull it out and clean it.

  2. soak up all u can...just be careful mixing chemicals regarding any cleaning solutions

  3. Rent a carpet shampooer form your local hardware or rental store. Just be sure it has a hand held attachment, like the type used to clean chairs inside your home.

  4. Take the carpet out of the car and put some laundry detergent on, then use a power washer on it, aside from wear it will look almost as good as new.

  5. you might want to bring it into a professional place to get it done... they have all the right hoses and those mini-steamers to get into yjr car rug to get out the antifreeze... Just let them know where it was dripping, or where it had spilt!

Or if you have a mini steamer you can try it yourself!! Or alot of just hot water with soap and and a sponge and keep dabbing the area, that might do the trick... and keep windows cracked so the moisture can escape from the car when you are done!

    Good Luck!

  6. Antifreeze is water soluble. Just use a steam cleaner.

  7. Never heard of a radiator leaking coolant on the inside of the car. I sure hope you replaced the heater core. Assuming you did, have the carpet steam cleaned by a detailer.
