I just joined marines and its time ot pick my mos?

i was thinking infantry and hopefully becoming a gunner but everyone keeps telling me not too i'm hoping someone has some advice on what is a good marine mos thxs

If I was to reup (been out 20 years) I would go into communications or aviation. They have the best chances for advancement as well as a good paying job if you decide not to make a career out of it.

I can't truthfully advise you without knowing your line scores. Have you talked with your recruiter? He or she should be familiar with many MOS's and has access to other recruiters for jobs they aren't familiar with. Don't let other people make your career decision for you. It's your life and YOUR future! If your heart is set on infantry, go for it! It's a challenging job that requires more smarts than many people realize. I put in a guy with a 99 ASVAB overall into the infantry. I showed him the other jobs, but ultimately it was his decision to make. If you decide the infantry isn't for you, when you reenlist you might be able to request a lateral move (switch) into a different job.

if you have no family and dont really care then do infantry because we need as much people volunteering in infantry as we can get. if not,  do avionics technician because its a really good field and plus you will have a choice of 3 strainds -O, A-E, and I. Do I strand to make the most money its about a year long but its really good in the long run! (if you do so most likely  you will be sent to Pensacola Fl. and its absolutely BEAUTIFUL there. I just joined a few months ago too and am going infantry. I chose infantry because I do not have any plans on a civilian career. I figure I would just join up, fight, and see how I like the Corps.

It is up to you. I heard that doing security is pretty cool. You get to go to awesome places around the world and guard building and important people. You might even be sent to stand outside the presidents plane.
