I just looked to contain the Pakistani batsmen, reveals Suraj Randiv – Cricket News Update
Suraj Randiv, the Sri Lankan off-spinner, is happy with his performance in the on-going first Test of the series against Pakistan at Galle and expressed that he just concentrated on containing the visiting batsmen.
At tea on day four of the match, the home team was in a commanding position to clinch the Test and take a lead in the series. The 27-year-old played a massive role for his side in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s first innings as he picked up four crucial scalps after giving
away merely 13 runs in 9.3 overs.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/M-Muralitharan-c1864, but this is a great chance for the Islanders to turn the tables.
Randiv, who made his Test debut in 2010, was tipped to be the ideal replacement for the wily spin bowler but the Matara-born cricketer has so far failed to live up to the expectations.
While talking about his impressive performance against the Green Shirts, Randiv expressed that the Pakistani batsmen always want to keep the scoreboard moving and this is the reason why he just looked to halt the scoring-rate and wickets came naturally on
the way.
"We have been trying to bowl a good length and line because, normally, Pakistanis don't like to be tied down. With my height I don't think I need to bother about the flight. I am trying to bowl all six balls in one spot, and then try to add a little variation
as well," Randiv said.
Before the Galle Test, the off-spinner had picked 28 scalps in eight matches, including a five-wicket haul against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in his debut series.
The lanky spinner also praised the recent performances of his teammate, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/HMRKB-Herath-c1559 and claimed that he gets to learn a lot from the seasoned left-arm spinner.
The off-spinner mentioned, "Herath is our No. 1 spinner. With him, we [the other spinners] discuss a lot of things like strategy and the weak points of batsmen, and try to use [his advice] in matches."
Randiv was also a part of Chennai Super Kings for the fifth season of the Indian Premier League; however, he failed to break into the playing-XI in any of the matches.
