Should I try using newspapers or would I need to use a chemical?

  1. Treat it with a soil sterilizer such as Sahara by Lesco. It lasts for a year. Nothing will grow there. Nothing. Be careful with it and dont get it near trees, shrubs or flowers. This stuff is powerful but safe to use.

Or get some grass and weed killer and apply it after anything sprouts. Round up (glyphosate) works fine but you have to keep applying it when new weeds appear.

Alternatively you could just practice pitching so much that grass doesnt have a chance to grow ; )

  2. Good ole Round Up will keep the grass off. It's sold in the garden center at Wal Mart and a quart of the concentrate is about 12.00 and it'll make 4-5 gallons, in other words enough to last a long time and it really works well.
