I just made thai sweet rice in my rice cooker. It has a soapy taste. Is it the rice? ?

Thai sweet rice is meant to be steamed, not boiled like regular rice.  I tried preparing it by boiling once for the heck of it and it really made the rice disintegrate and taste strange.  Otherwise if yours has an acceptable consistency you may not have rinsed properly first.  Here is a website that details how to steam sweet rice. http://importfood.com/stickyrice.html

you dont make sweet rice in a rice cooker and you have to prep it first alot harder to make then regular rice

sounds like you added too much water before cook the rice. Rice gets harder and crunchier if you add less water.
