a few hours ago and i cant stop crying i miss home so much

anyone have an advice and how long did it take you ?

Get out and walk around campus or anything else that will enable you to meet people. Once you meet new people and develop friendships and once you are crammed w/ school work, you won't have anytime to think about being homesick. It's those days when you don't have anything to do or any friends who drop by just b/c--you'll sit around and think about how much you miss your home and family then. Just do things to keep you busy and you'll be fine after awhile.

are you kidding me..i cant wait to move into college..im sure you have a cell phone that you can talk to your family. if you seriously are crying right now because your away from home, you shouldnt have boarded in the first place

Ok, calm down for a second.

You have gone far from your comfort zone and are alone and scared and upset.

Is there a dorm director? how about the hall RA? They can refer you to the counseling center on campus. What you need is a reassuring face and someone who can help you learn to cope.

That in fact is the crux of the solution: you must learn how to cope with change. Maybe its not the soft warm and fuzzy answer you THINK you want, but it is reality. There are going to be many times in your life when you will be in a new situation, and if you are going to react by panicing, you will only hurt yourself.

SO, get to the RA or RD, get counseling, call home, (maybe even have your teddy bear sent up) and also go out and get involved in something! Go find a TV lounge where others hang out. Join in on dorm governance. But whatever you do, do not walk/run away back home or you will never be able to do it in the future.
