  1. Get estimates from Water Softener companies. The "big" companies are not always the best. Make sure they are all bidding the same options.

  2. Since it is a well there will be a pipe that comes into your home and goes to a pressure tank from there it goes to the rest of your home.

You should be able to have a hole house filter installed just after the pressure tank and before it splits to the various bathrooms and sinks etc.

A plumber should be able to do it for a few hundred dollars.  If you can sweat a joint yourself it isn't a real complicated process to install.

You need to turn off the water drain the pipes (if you can at lease relieve the pressure), cut a small section of pipe out, install 2 valves (one on either side of the new filter) place the filter between the valves and you are done.

BUT it may not remove everything you want.  They make different levels of filters to go in the filter unit.  I replace my filter every 3 months with a filter that costs about $10.00  The really good filters cost about $45.00 and last for 3 months (water usage dependent).

  3. ok so you can get a home depot water softern system or you can get a good quality one, but yea deffenlty need a softener
