From what I can see, everything is smaller. Six Flags here is one of the smallest I have ever seen. All the malls are tiny and the stores as well. Its nearly impossible finding an updated 5,000 sq ft house. Etc etc. So is it only because they are the 2nd largest state and the woman from here in the 80s had big hair?

  1. Traveling east to west, the landscape of Texas gradually evolves from that of the Deep South into that of the desert Southwest, going from piney woods to semi-forests of oak and cross timbers, into rolling plains and prairie, then finally to desert in the Big Bend. These wide open spaces of the Texas prairie have lent currency to the phrase that "everything is bigger in Texas".

    That's the wiki explanation anyways.

As far as Six Flags goes...it's the original Six Flags and while it has grown over the decades, it still doesn't compare to most updated theme parks.

When your looking for updated houses, shopping, malls, etc.  I would recommend the suburbs north of Dallas (ie. Plano, Frisco, McKinney).  These suburbs have boomed in the past 10 years (many growing from a few thousand people to 100,000+ in population), so everything is relatively brand new.
