I just moved to Texas, but still work in Louisiana. Will I have to pay income tax?

Louisiana has income tax but Texas doesn't. As a Texas resident will I have to pay LA income tax?

  1. Essentially you will end up paying your state taxes twice.

    LA will tax you because you earned the wages in their state.

    TX doesn't have an income tax, so you won't get a credit at the state level for the taxes paid to LA.

    TX gets it's income from extremely high property taxes.  Even if you rent, your rent reflects the taxes your landlord pays.

  3. You will need to file a tax return in the State of Louisiana as long as you have income earned in that state.

  4. Texas does not have an income tax.  If you earn income in Louisiana, yes you will still owe income tax to Louisiana.

  5. are you speaking of federal taxes?you pay federal taxes whereever you work at being louisiana or texas,louisiana has state taxes but texas doesn't,i think that's what you meant.
