I just noticed in the simpsons?

since lisa is this vegetarian and cares for animal rights and is against animal cruelty why does she watch itchy and scratchy which is a cat getting killed?

You couldn't be a member of the Simpson family and not have some quirky little flaw.  Poor Lisa.  But we must forgive her her one little character blemish because she is so good in so many other ways.

that is one way of showing the complexity of characters in simpsons world.. on one hand, she is a mature almost-adult capable of feeling for other living things, and on the other hand, she is still a child. the parent simpsons, one the other hand, just like adults in the "real world", abhor violence on tv, but don't have trouble hitting kids (homer choking bart), eating non-veg food, snake whacking, etc...
