I just obtained my US permanent resident status and I have been applying jobs for more than a month and not even one employer came back to schedule interviews or ask for more information. I graduated with a 4-year Bachelor's engineering degree from my home country and with working experience. I applied posting from engineers to technicians to administrative assistant and no luck. Please, advise me what to to get a job.

  1. this seems like a pretty difficult and stressful situation. but if you keep on having persistance, trust me you will get a job.

here are a few hopefully helpful tips. =D

    1. try to look for ads in the newspaper

    2. the main goal here is for you to get a job. any job. start off with something small and work your way up. you may not start of with something that you imagined but anything is good. (maybe work at a fast food restaurant or become a janitor) i know its not your first choice but you need SOMETHING. you will always be able to work your way up.

    3. if you DO finally get an interview remember to make your self look very clean, organized and put together.

4.read the job ad carefully and pick out the key words used in the ad to re-use in your cover letter and resume.

5.Don't use weird email addresses on your resume and cover letter. Save funpartygal @yahoo.com for your friends and instead create a plain email incorporating your name, such as johnbrown@yahoo.com

i REALLY hope i helped and GOOD LUCK!!!
