interview..does anyone out there know what the "interview" consists of? Details please...I'm so nervous!!!!

the interview is most likely going to be an oral board. the oral board consists of a police officer, a police sergeant, and a person from the city's human resources department. each person will ask you situational questions. the questions will be things like what attributes should a police officer have, of those that you listed which do you have? if you saw your partner steal a candy bar, what would you do? they will go through scenarios dealing with corruption, honesty, common sense, and use of lethal force (remember: SHOOT TO KILL). at the end of the interview they will ask if you would like to add anything, this is your time to shine. before you go in, have a 2-3 minute speech planned out explaining why YOU are the best candidate for this job.

first off, don't be nervous, easy to say im sure.  but one of the main things that they're looking for is self-confidence and ability to conduct yourself under pressure.  when i took mine i went over many many many many times the questions which i thought they were going to ask.  why do i want to be a police officer?, past experience?,etc.  its amazing how easy it is to mess up easy questions if you don't prepare yourself.  sit up straight, look them in the eyes, give thorough answers, but don't keep talking if you have nothing useful to say.  as for the scenario questions, they're mostly common sense, but one of the questions they usually ask is what would you do if you went into a store after hours for an alarm and saw your partner take a candy bar or some variation on that.  good luck
