  1. Not sure which country you are in, but in Australia, we received my notification and license number with 5 days of the result of the exams.

The parchment license did not arrive for three months, but my license No was available withing 5 days, which meant I could use my transciever..

  2. Since you referred to the FCC, you are in the

    USA.

You do NOT have to have your paper license to operate.

You DO have to have your call sign listed in the FCC database.

The CSCC you got at your exam session should have the website for the FCC ULS where you can look to see when your call sign is issued.

ARRL VECs time is about a week.  As such, by Friday your call will be issued.

W5YI and Laurel VECs submit electronically, so your call could be online Monday or Tuesday.

Look at the link in my source list and search from there.  They update constantly through the day, so a morning afternoon, and evening search are good things to do.  If you were through an ARRL VEC, don't expect results until Thursday or Friday (April 3 or 4)

Your paper license will be issued at the end of business the same day your call is issued.  It will arrive in the mail in a week or less after the print date.
