I just published a free website does this mean I will not get traffic or make money?

It is with own-free-website and the URL ends in tl. so it will not be memorable as a .com website. I put google ads, and some products for sales. Am I doomed for failure because it is a free website ? Anybody had any success?

To a certain extent, spamming your site using services will temporarily increase traffic.  But search engines recognize that, and rate you lower.  Essentially, it's short-term gratification that will lead to a long-term suicide.

I have no experience with .tk, but I have another type of free website http://fblatests.brinkster.net the only way to work with a free website is to find a niche.  I found a topic for a site that no one had thought of, and I get around 300 hits a day and am in the top ten on google.  If you have content that people want, you can market it.  No content, no future.

ok if you have it online allready now you have to promote dosent matter if is a free website, is a good idea you use some search engines services too

Publish articles about your site

submit your url to directories

swap links with sites simular (not competion)

post classified ads

be active in forums related to your site

do some keyword research  ( http://www.submityoursite.us/keywordsug.... )  and make sure you are using the best keywords for your site

Write keyword rich content for your site

Hi

If your web site is important to you to get better ranking its not a good idea to register a free domain. If you want to register .com domain its better if you register it for 10 years instead of 1 year as google will find it as long time business...

Its only $7 to register .com domain name or if you are in UK its only £8 to register .co.uk for 2 years...

You can make money with basically every website - no matter if it's free or not. Search engines don't like .tk - domains, though and I believe .tl don't do very well either. BUT what counts is traffic, traffic & - you will not believe me - traffic! Search engines are fortunately not the only way to get it.
