I dont want to pay a shop, I want to do it myself, can someone tell me of a free site online that can tell me how to do this myself? I had my check engine light diag'd by the professionals at auto zone for free. Code was po534, the expert said my fuel was lean and I need a new pump.

  1. my old 85 saab had a hatch in the trunk under the carpet take off the lines r&r the pump

  2. grab a book and read up on it. you want to drain the gas tank because where is that pump , in the tank!

  3. Did he actually test the fuel PRESSURE?  I've never heard of anyone diagnosing a fuel pump without checking the pressure.  A lean condition could be caused by a bad O2 sensor or a bad MAP sensor.  Have the pressure checked first to confirm or disprove his findings.

Invest your money at this site.  You'll be glad you did.  It's worth every penny of it.

  4. lean fuel could be a couple of things and not just the fuel pump...clogged fuel filter for one, maybe a leak somewhere in the intake or intake lines allowing too much air into the combustion chamber (i.e. the hose on the pcv valve, egr valve, etc.)

  5. Find out where the part is , remove old part , replace with new part , secure it .

  6. you might be in for a HEAD-ACHE! they are usually inside the tank sometimes you even have to drain the gas to do it. you are definately gonna need the jack good luck!
