  1. Yes, it could very well do that. If you want to gain mass you are going to want to increase your caloric intake, and doing so will increase your body fat percentage. And increasing your body fat percentage could hide your abs by adding fat to your stomach.

  2. if you want to gain mass there has to be a caloric excess in the diet.  it's near impossible to gain a large amount of muscle with out the body fat % increasing.  how much muscle and fat is gained is determined by the overall quality of the foods in the diet and how much of a caloric excess there is.

    * I train and consult NPC & IFBB bodybuilders

  3. I have to agree wit the guy above me, its extremely hard to gain muscle mass and still limit ur body fat.  However, i believe it is still possible.  Your body does need calories to help the metabolic activitiy, so that u can burn a ton of energy (hvae a good workout) and recover.  However, if u eat properly, limit ur food high in sat. fats and keep a good diet plan, along with a good LOGICAL workout plan i believe its possible.

I am a nutrition consultant, (not nearly as credible as the guy above me but im stilll better then most), and i am mostly responsible for helping bodybuilders gain muscle and lost a massive amount of body fat in a short time.  most diets i presribe are sub 2000 calories and most workouts routines i make consist of a decent workout followed by running AFTER*** the workout, say 30 minutes 4 times a week at 120-140 heart rate.  now the 2000 calorie diet i dont think should be maintained all year long but it is good to cycle it in for an 8 - 12 week cycle twice a year.  I suggest u talk to ur nutritionist and any trainer at ur local gym, since they usualy offer free advice, and take advantage of any advice they can give.
