I just purchased a part for my riding lawnmower,it has no threads-please help.?

I just bought a new jackshaft housing or mandering housing made of aluminum. The housing has no threads in the bolt holes. The mower is a1998 Murray. Are the bolts that came out the thread cutting type. They are real pointed on the ends then taper to bigger threads. Do i have to tap the new housing or will the bolts tap new threads?

If your description is correct, it sounds like you have self tapping screws which should self tap as you s***w it in.
