  1. Subwoofer cables are single cables and can be purchased at any electronics store.  Get a decent cable that has shielding and gold plated connectors.  A decent cable should cost in the ballpark of $20.

  2. Some subwoofers accept two types of wires.

One is a coaxial subwoofer cable with RCA plugs (it goes to the subwoofer (or "LFE") jack on the receiver. A good 20' cable will cost about $50 (See 1st link for pictures and further info), but you can make your own from a coax cable and two "F-connector to RCA" adapters for less than that. Some subs have dual inputs, but you only need to use one.

The other is normal speaker wires that actually take the output from the receiver front speaker terminals, split off the low frequencies --- that get sent to the subwoofer -- and the mid and high frequencies are sent on to the front speakers.

If using the former, and the receiver is managing the bass (see 2nd link for an article on setting up a subwoofer), set the crossover on the subwoofer to off.
