My friend says that since I am paying for high speed cable access I will be getting free basic cable television and that I don't have to pay 'extra' for the TV cable service.

I was told cable companies charge you extra because they 'already know' that you are getting Television basic cable for free when you sign up for high speed cable internet.

Is this true?

  1. I have broadband through Time Warner and they filter out the TV.  All I get is the broadband.

  2. Analog services it the correct term if you have a digital spliter and a some fiber optic cables that are long enough to extend to back of your tv set then yes you could get basic digital service at least i know that it's worked for me on occasions while at times it's only the channels you would get from a regular antena, sometimes you get digital cable channels.

Now it is true that you might not get anything at all it really all depends on your location and if you have the right type of equipment.

  3. no, not true.
