  1. I am visualizing a lovely, warm, silky, burnt orange/light terracotta.

With a dark chocolate floor, I would opt for the mid tone shades - not dark. Thinking Oriental, I see lots of sunset oranges, golds etc., shimmering tones.  Offset these colors with black or bronze accessories.

If it were my room, I would absolutely choose the burnt orange satin on the walls with black or VERY dark brown eggshell trim.

    Good luck.

  2. If your oriental furniture is black, then I would suggest at least one red wall.  It would be eye popping and dramatic, and look good with dark hardwood and asian furniture.  If that is too bold for you, I would try a nice warm taupe color as it would go perfectly with asian inspired reds, blacks, and warm woods.

  3. Since your flooring is dark colored, you need to off set it with a neutral color. Depending on the colors of your Oriental/ Asian style, the best color to choose, would to bring out the color( s ) that are in the Oriental decor. For example; if there is a hint of beige or a light color, then bring that color forward to capture the full mode. Dark - on -dark is not a good combo, as it will make the room appear smaller and too " closed in " ( if you can understand what I'm meaning to say).

I hope that this is useful and, have fun with your decorating !!

  4. A deep earthy red looks nice - my friend just did something similar.  I'd have a bit of cream or lighter shade as well to balance it out.

  5. I like the deep earthy red idea, but then I would rag or sponge over it with a mustard yellow or a deep gold.  That would look so awesome with the chocolate wood floors and the Chinese decor.
