The company I worked for produces products to sell to companies who blend them into nutritional supplements for the human market. During my time there I worked in QA/QC and was commanded (sign it out or find a new job) to release dairy and egg products that were expired to our clients by issuing new lot numbers and claiming expiration dates that were years past the true expiration dates. Should I report this to the USDA and their clients knowing full well that it might cost many people their jobs? My conscience is screaming to not allow these products into the human market anymore and I don't know what to do please help.

  1. Yes, you should. I'm sure you can do it anonymously.

  2. People's lives versus people's jobs...I think people's lives are more important

  3. Yes sir.  As a Quality Assurance Supervisor it isn't only your job, but your duty.  Were it not for people like you our country would have way more food scares or even become a country that just disallows certain types all together.  I say blow that whistle and get another job, and tell future employers your observation skills.  You could just sign-off on everything and go home just fine, but a real man wouldn't.  Sorry for the upfront tone, I'm a vet.  I hope this helps!

  4. Yes, if you have hard evidence.  If it is just "your word" nothing will happen.....especially now since you are leaving your job.

    And notify FDA, not USDA...

As I recall nutritional supplements are not monitored.

  5. yes by all means.

  6. Definitely report it.  This company is putting people's health at risk.

  7. You could do this anonymously, but yes, you should.

  8. Why is it that you don't think about this until you are leaving the company? You should have reported this when you first saw it.

  9. REPORT IT!  With all of the recent illnesses and deaths due to food contamination, I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I were in your shoes.

  10. Yes, people can get very sick.

  11. Its your duty as a human being yourself to blow the whistle.

  12. The reality is, if it's your word against theirs, it can only cause you trouble. You need proof. Independent, verifiable proof. If you have it, absolutely report it to the proper agencies (I'd start with your local health department, and the FDA).

  13. Wow. Yes I would report it if I were you, unless you have proof that there can be no danger to society in doing this. If there is even the tiniest chance though that illness could result you should report it.

    That's pretty incredible.
