  1. Terrazzo is not a recycled glass product. It is a concrete (some modern terrazzo epoxy) based product where marble chips or other small aggregates are added to the top layers.  This product when set is ground and polished so that it has a smooth surface and the polished exposed marble chips or aggregates add color variations to the surface.  It has been commonly used as bathroom flooring in homes in the past.  Quite popular 50 or more years ago.

Recently some manufacturers have introduced a range of tiles that have a finish which in some way resembles terrazzo and have called them terrazzo tiles.

In an effort to be environmentally conscious, Wausau Tile is introducing ''glass'' terrazzo. Wausau Tile's terrazzo tile utilizes 100% recyled glass products, 33% by weight.

From an environmental point of view these new terrazo look tiles still have to be glued with a non environmentally friendly glue to a concrete floor which has its own environmental problems with CO2 emissions during its production. What is the other 67% of these new tyles if recycled glass is 33% by weight? Traditional or real terrazo floors would have the environmental problems of concrete production plus dust through grinding.

Traditional terrazzo was a whole of floor in one piece finish not tile.
