Why do they have to set the highest standards of behavior in the society? What are the bad effects if they commit some mistakes like some other celebrities?

  1. Ordinary folk put on their best clothes and best behaviour to meet the queen and members of her family.

It is a matter of courtesy that the members of the royal family should return the compliment.  And for the most part they do.

I'm sure the queen and her family are aware that if they behaved rudely to members of the public, ordinary people would soon decide that they did not want to be represented by the royals.

  2. The Royalty represents its country, they were the top

preserver of the country's good deeds, history and idolized

by many people around the world. If the royalties did'nt behave well maybe the World War 3 may occur in the present time... Mostly the bad effects if royal people tend to do silly thing was they put their country in critical state, they are dirtying their country's name and deeds specially their family and themselves... so being royal was not that easy they should behave well or many will suffer...

  3. the very first rule of society is to treat people as you would like to be treated

the rest is just made up stuff

  4. I don't know.  The idea that the monarchy should be well-behaved is a fairly recent one.  In earlier centuries, the monarchy often behaved extremely badly.  'Well-behaved' is not the first thing that comes to mind when one considers the Henry VIII for instance.  Or Charles II.  Or George IV.  A sort of reaction set in with Queen Victoria and prince Albert, who set an example of happy family life that was much admired.  but queen Victoria became quite unpopular for a while after the death of Prince Albert, when for many years she avoided performing any of her public duties, though she still worked quite hard in private.  She regained her popularity in old age though.  and Edward VII was not exactly well-behaved, having a lot of mistresses etc.

Since then though the monarchs we have had have generally been very respectable (with the exception of Edward VIII and the Mrs simpson scandal), and I suppose we have become accustomed to thinking of them as being supposed to set a standard of behaviour.  but of course that was never their role in past times, and there is really no reason why we should expect them to be better behaved than other people in private, so long as they carry out the public duties that they are (quite handsomely) paid for.
