Question:

I just really need to know...?

I am on Nuva Ring, and I've been a consistent, faithful user for four months (about to enter the fifth month). I am not on antibiotics or any other medicine that would interfere with my B.C., except for the herbal remedy Colon Clenz. I called my doctor's office today (slightly freaking out) because I began a brownish-bloody discharge on the 19th. I am due for my period around the 22nd or 23rd. The discharge has continued and remained fairly consistent. I'm a little concerned because I am not planning for a baby any time soon, and I hope that this is not implantation bleeding. My doctor's office said that if I used Nuva Ring effectively, I should not have anything to worry about. I haven't experienced any other noticeable symptoms. Is this just the start of my period, or should I be worried? Could Colon Clenz have decreased the effectiveness of Nuva Ring? My doctor's office said probably NOT, but I just don't know.

Also, I have been pretty stressed out (more so than normal) starting yesterday and continuing into today. Could that have triggered an early period?

If anyone can offer any advice, please let me know what you think. Thank you in advance!

  1. I heard that there are these things out in the drug stores called pregnancy tests and you can buy one at any time and just pee on the stick and it can predict whether or not you are pregnant. But that's just what I heard.

  2. The spotting could have something to do with the nuva ring (it can cause some bleeding between periods) or it could just be that you period is about to start. It is perfectly normal to have some spotting in the days leading up to your period. I really dont think that you are pregnant especially since you have no other symptoms.

  3. We can't really tell you whats going on, but wait until its normally time for your period and take a test to be sure.  Its not completely impossible to get pregnant on Nuvaring.  Since its the 20th today, you may just be getting an early period.  I would wait a few days and take a test to be sure :) Good luck!
