I married my beloved husband U.S Citizen, just got the notice for the interview for my Green Card. In the list of what to bring mentioned something "Affidavit of support form completed", can my husband filled that or has to be some one else because he is my petitioner already. Also in the form says: If the immigrant sponsored in this affidavit does receive one of the designated Federal, State or local means-tested public benefits, the agency providing the benefit may request that you repay the cost of those benefits. That agency can sue you if the cost of the benefits provided is not repaid." So this means that I can NEVER request unemployment or what is this exactly about and for how long before I can request benefits whitout getting my friend in trouble?

  1. Your husband has to fill out the affadavit of support. His obligation to support you ends when you become a citizen, after that you can get government aid

  2. if he was the sponsor it would have been a form he would have filled out to show he had support you.

If you have been on medicaid, food stamps that type of thing. Unemployment is different because you would have paid into the system

    good luck

  3. Your husband has to fill out the affidavit of support for you. He needs to prove that he has sufficient income to support you both.

While someone is your sponsor, they are responsible for all your support. If you apply for welfare, food stamps, medicaid, etc, they can come after the person who sponsored you for repayment. You will be sponsored until you have worked for 10 years or become a citizen.
