I just received a dui in ct. my court date is 8/29. how long does a worker's permit take to get approved?

Depending on the laws of CT, you might be granted one by the judge.  In some states, a DUI will wipe out all the points on your license, so you can't drive anyway.  This is a question that you should be talking to your lawyer about.  Not only should your attorney know the laws related to this, but he can also file the motions to grant you permission to travel to and from work.  

In the mean time, get the bus schedule and keep it handy.

You mean a hardship license so you can still drive to work? well good luck with that one. They are very hard and very expensive to obtain, and many cant, like my next door neighbor, lost his license for 5 YEARS, and couldn't get a hardship because it would cost him 5 grand.
