I installed the wireless networking Belkin hardware so it would be able to connect wireless, but although it's installed, no internet connections show. Anybody know what's going on? It continuously asks for a modem dial-up connection, but it was working with the wireless routing previously. Anybody?

now plug your  computer into the modem or router.

Go to Control Panel >Network Connections >

run the wizard for Internet Connections.

  2. yea, when i installed XP on my mac i couldnt firgue out how to get internet access... but then i found out that when i put in a mac install disk in installed all the utilities i needed...if your not talking about a mac, plug you comp into a ethernet and run a system update

  3. you need the drivers for that, look for a cd that came with the wireless adapter.

  4. you need to disable all other connections ..check see if the driver is there  start===my computer= right click on it==click properties when box appears== click ==hardware then device manager..if anything has a yellow exclamation point or question mark next to it it has problems..check see if your wireless driver is there if it is not you will have to install the driver..steve

  5. You said you installed the hardware but did you install the software - drivers without installing the drivers you won't be able to access the net.

  6. There may be multiple solutions:

you could be missing your network cards driver, installing that should be worthwhile

or you could just have told your computer what to connect to, try manually setting the ip address

  7. Go to control panel, administrative tools then services...

Scroll through the services until you see Wireless zero configuration and make sure the service is running.

You should have a symbol in the taskbar (bottom right), click it then find your router thru there... Hope this helps

  8. Your network adapters may be disabled since you reinstalled XP, or your drivers may not have updated properly.

    1. Right click on my computer and go to properties.  Click on the hardware tab, then click on the device manager button.  Look for network adapters.  Once you click on the plus sign next to network adapters, check and see if there are any red X's or yellow caution signs with exclamation points.

             a.  if there is a red x, right click on the adapter next to the x and click enable.

             b.  if there is a caution sign, insert the Drivers and Utilities disc in your drive, but you don't want to run it, we just need it so that the device can find the drivers needed to run it.  You will then right click on the network adapter and click on update driver.  A wizard should pop up.  You need to select the following options:

    - install the software automatically

    - install from removable media (disc drive)

    - if it allows you to choose the location, do so, it may find the drivers from the disc once inserted automatically.

You will then have to continue through the wizard, its pretty self explanatory.

These two are the most likely cause of the problem, it's a common issue when reinstalling XP.
