  1. There have been a number of recent malicious programs exploiting the default behavior of Windows operating systems to hide file extensions from the user. This behavior can be used to trick users into executing malicious code by making a file appear to be something it is not.

  2. kaspersky internet security v. 7.0.0.125

  3. avast is the best protection that free can buy.

    www.avast.com

it has saved me from tons of trojans. It usually detects them before they do anything and it always fixes the problem for you.

  4. It sounds secure to me as long as it is upated regularly.

The only suggestion I would make is to change your firewall.

Zone Alarm (Free) and try Mozilla Firefox (Free) as a browser

  5. That should be about it other then the knowledge too distinguish safe website and files too access versus the unsafe.

  6. Most malwares are designed to attack popular

antivirus products (like Symantec, McAfee or Norton), but since free anti-virus product is much less used, it's capable of fighting the wild viruses when industry leaders fail.

My company use symantec and recently there is a major outbreak of viruses that it cannot detect. We are force to switch to Avast to stop the viruses.

I would suggest you use Avast, spybot and zone alarm.
