The new valve is an American Valve 1/2 inch threaded. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

  1. yeah just turn it till it point down but dont turn it to much to where you strip the threads

  2. You may well have to rotate the valve 180 degrees clockwise - righty-tighty, lefty-loosey.  If the new valve is bottomed out, a few more revolutions of teflon tape may help.  If you're installing it into a PVC female fitting, back it out until it is only held in by one revolution of thread -with fresh teflon - take a hose clamp and cinch the c**p out of it and then put the hose bibb back in.  The hose clamp will help keep the tapered threads from expanding the female part too much.

Other than that, there are 45 degree bends which would fit after the bibb, but that can be a bit hokey.

  3. Turn it until it points down.
