I have a 96 sunfire. The dash warning lights (theft system, abs, check engine, etc) come on every now and then, and when they all come on, the engine temp and tach drop to nothing, however, the speedometer and the fuel gauge work fine. also, when the lights come on, the a/c will still blow, but not cold air. The car sat for a couple of weeks, and the interior leaks a little due to the need for a new top and dry rotted weather stripping, and tropical storm Fay. The alternator was checked at autozone, and it was given the green light. thanks for any help.

  1. Hi There!

This just usually means your computer hasn't reset Properly, you should take both battery cables off for at least a half hour and then put them back on, and wait another half hour before you drive again. If this doesn't help there might be a ground issue. To fix a ground issue you have to look at all the ground wires, if some are broken or torn, replace them. Hope this helps and all the best of luck!

  2. No it’s not the computer resetting itself, check all of the fuses and connections since it was flooded and I assume that the battery cable connections are okay as well...

As for the starter check the starter solenoid first and then check the flywheel for missing teeth.
