Yes, picking a woman is his way of asking for an "out".  He is obviously throwing up the white flag.  He can't do better than the Obama Campaign, clearly.

He's known her for years, And yes he has done something he picked a very smart women to be his VP. And please don't say you need experience to be the VP. I'm sure she will do better then any of the others that we have had in the past. A lot of you guys sound scared whats wrong afraid she may clean up Washington. Other then that no he hasn't done anything yet. He's not the president yet !!

I don't think so. He's picked a woman with a record of doing what she believes is best for her state/country rather than what is best for her party. At the same time, she has core values that will appeal to the Republican base. She's the ultimate outsider for those who are seeking change, and she seems to be pretty personable. McCain could have done a lot worse.
