I am new at this, I love kids, and someday hope to open more schools. I know it's a good business, but how can I make my baby bloom. Kids keep leaving and I am going crazy. I have made flyers and placed an ad in a shopper that will be distributed in over 20,000 homes. Please let me know if you have any ideas.

  1. First, where in S. Fla are you?

I live in Ft Lauderdale and from my experience, the daycare centers that really last and do well are the ones with the following:

Transportation for elementary school kids to and from school.

    Breakfast, lunch and two snacks.

    A pre-school cirriculum

Fully licensed and trained staff (parents DO check)

    Great organization

Plenty of activities for the kids (not alot of cartoons!)

    PATIENCE PATIENCE PATIENCE

and Good prices. (I pay $100 a week for my 3 year old)

There's lots of other things parents look for also. Do you have kids of your own? Are you running this business out of your house? You mentioned kids leaving, WHY are they leaving? Going to another daycare? Better prices somewhere else? Friendlier staff?

It all comes down to communication with the parents, and making them fully confident that their child is Safe, clean, fed, entertained, and feels they are getting enough attention.

  2. starting a day care center is really a good idea.. but first you need to advertise your day care center.. or maybe tell your friends about it. of course you need to have a lot of patience in doing so. about kids leaving your center? maybe you need to redecorate your place into something that kids will have the interest to play or learn something. maybe you need to paint a more colorful surrounding to your center. kids attention span is just short so i think it would be better to let them play games that are safe for them and as simple that the kids would love and enjoy and at teh same time will be able to learn something

  3. When I had my child care business, I had no problem with long term children.  I had an enrollment of 22, but only allowed 6 at a time in my home.  Most of my children's parents are teachers and are chefs in hotels.  It was by word of mouth is how I got my clients. I once considered ads, but someone told me not to advertise because I would just be too much of a hassle.

  4. you can make a website, send out letters to people who live around the area, put an add in the paper, and if you can contact the news.

  5. If kids keep leaving maybe you need to look back over your curriculum and see if you can figure out why and fix it. The best way to build your business is to be the best day care center in your area and get a really good reputation. A lot of times this sort of business depends more on word mouth then anything else.

    Good luck!
