Let me know what you find out as I have applied for that position at a local  hospital. Although I have no medical training, I have a great deal of qualifications for managing, computers and such. Those I have spoke to have told me that I can easily learn the terms. But another thing is it not always what you know but who you know!

I would say that you are the person that the patient sees first before seeing a doctor or being admitted to the hospital.  You fill in their personal information, as well as insurance info, etc. and put it into the computer.  The information that you put in will be referenced and added to during the patients stay at the hospital.  You may also work in a special department in the hospital, making phone calls to patients to fill this information out prior to their entering into the hospital for tests or procedures.
