  1. You just started college congratulations. My Father died in 1992 and since then I moved back in to look after my Mother. However when the disc went I ended up in a wheelchair, so it was best for me to move out! Yeah, like you, I was really excited, found a nice flat and then moved in. First thing I noticed was all the very strange noises? The bump, the knock, the foot steps of others in the complex. Add in the late night early morning flushing of the toilets and sleep was never!

Likewise I missed my Labrador snoring, they do not allow dogs in the flat! Then I also missed my Mothers nocturnal night mares and screams. I would come home to look after Mother and go to bed, for the day and then spend the night wide awake listening to all these very new noises! However one night I just said to myself: one day you will be all on your own, so you better get used to it. I said to myself when I went to bed: you are not alone, you are surrounded by people, in a secure place, so enjoy the freedom while you have it. That was it, fast asleep. Best of Luck

PS I took my microwavable teddy bear with me and I am hoping to make 50 later this year!

  2. yup,its nerves,your probably not comftorable

  3. You are worrying.

1  get a bath and then have a drink of tea and ot a stimulant and then go to bed

2  if you are not asleep in say 15 minutes then get up and read a light novel or do a crossword or something boring but not a peep at a study book

3  Next if all else fails lie there and try NOT to close your eyes, really fight it and think of nothing else.

4   If that fails then take an antihistamine tablet that says do not drive after taking this tablet.

5  Lie still and look at a candle or a spot on the ceiling and think of nothing else.

    Hope the above help.

    G

  4. I agree its probably anxiety.  Have you tried herbal remedies?  I use melatonin to help me sleep when I'm anxious.  I also do things that make me sleepy.. For me that's reading a boring book, taking a hot shower, and drinking that sleepy time tea by Celestial Seasonings.
