  1. American culture and English culture are very similar, therefore the mindset of English and American women are generally very similar.

And hey, Mike, in western Europe, gender roles are even less prevalent than they are in the US.

  2. women of all races, colour, culture are both the same and different. some are traditional, some are promicious. some wanna stay home, some wanna work. some like to have s*x 5 times a night, some like a lil back door action. english girls and american girls all like one thing:

    s*x.

  3. I've heard the same about the men.

  4. Yes, because we all know that all English women are identical to each other, and all American women are identical to each other.

  5. Foreign women are usually more traditional, nicer and less selfish than American women. Thats the main difference.

  6. they are more traditional. they are less selfish and outgoing. but it all depends on the person.

  7. As an English person myself (male) with a number of female American friends, I would say it depends on their background within England. If they are northern or southern, they will be as different as an American and English woman.

In general though, I think English women do have a different sense of humour which is true of people from any country since a lot of comedy is based on the country of the individual. English humour and culture in general is far less rooted in religion and patriotism and is more about social interactions, family, friends and experiences of both.

English women are proablly far more relaxed, not as loud and take things a lot less seriously. Politics, religion, patriotism, even royalty, is probablly talked about far less than in America.

If she is northern (Birmingham and northwards, check it on a map), she is probablly yet more down to earth, is really close to her family, almost as much as she is with her friends, possibly closer, and she will have experience of living in a far less glamourous place. Streets are dirtier, roads are not as straight, abandoned buildings are common, graffiti and vandalism is all over the place, every city, town and village is surrounded by country side or sea, and tiny farmhouses with sheep and cows. You're never more than 60 miles away from the beach. Most English people can't walk around their town without saying helloe to someone.

This is all from my experience of course, I'm getting a little nostalgic at the moment. I recommend you do a little research and look for some comedy by 'Peter Kay'. He is the latest British comedian to be popular across the whole nation. He has done 2 stand up gigs on DVD and has a series called 'Max and Paddys Road to Nowhere' and another, better series called 'Pheonix Nights'. You will pickup a lot about life in England from that guy, and also a lot about British/English humour.

  8. I am english, I think english woman are generally less opinionated, less selfish and not as loud as american women. We also have a differentt sense of humour.

Of course there are rough common english women just as there are rough and common american momen.

  9. The best relationship I ever had was with an English girl. She set the bar pretty high - we met working in India and she dragged me all over the place on great adventures, including to Kashmir. Back in England she is working on her master's degree in chemistry now and is involved in a number of social justice causes. I've really yet to meet an American girl who comes close...

I do tend to like foreign women more than American women, but that is just because I usually think Americans are very boring. I know there are some great American women out there too, though, especially in this category, so please don't feel like I am putting anybody down. :)

  10. I married a British guy, and we just moved from New Jersey to the UK.  On the whole, I'd say British women are quieter (which suits me, because I am fairly reserved) but more independent than American women.  We went to the supermarket the other day with my father-in-law, and he picked up a fruitcake and (in jest) complained that he had to buy it because his wife wouldn't make him one.  An older woman walking by paused and said, "Make it yourself."

  11. American seem more obsessed with looks etc. Also British people are more reserved and open minded. We don't have all that rubbish with gender and abortion here.

  12. I wouldn't know, but I do agree many American women are only concerned with themselves and become hostile and vicious if they don't get their way. ;-)
