  1. You can stay in the key for three seconds on defense and offense, but when an offensive man and defensive man are both in the key the offensive man will get the call. when your playing defense make sure u don't get the whistle or u will get a tech and the other team will shoot a free throw.


  2. u can only stay in the paint 3 seconds unless the person you r defending is in the paint or within arms reach

  3. in high school or below you can be in there as long as you want wen you are defending im pretty sure its the same for college

    and in the nba you have three seconds unless you are within gaurding distance of your man


  4. It's called 3 seconds in the key.  Most of the time the refs extend it to like 5 seconds but anymore then that and it'll be a violation. you can leave the key and then go right back in you just have to make sure both your feet were out of the key,
