  1. First off, decide what kind of deck you want it to be. Red and black are a very aggressive combination. You'll want to attack every chance you get with this deck.

Remove the Stuffy Doll, it's a good card, but you don't really have any spells in here to utilize it's ability to the fullest, and one

-1/-1 counter will kill him. Even though it says he's indestructible, if his toughness reaches 0 he still dies.

Also remove the Poison the Well you have in there, a single land destruction card that costs 4 isn't very efficient.

I'd also pull the Mind Rot and Psychotic Episodes, they don't seem to really do much that would help you with this deck. The Corrupt is questionable, it costs 6 and does damage based on the number of swamps you have in play, it would work better in a mono-black deck. (meaning a deck that only has black in it)

Other than that it looks alright for a beginner deck. I could give you a lot more advice, but most of the advice I would give would be more useful to a more experienced player.

Most importantly, test how your deck performs against all different kinds of decks. If you find a weakness, find something you can do to remove or lessen that weakness. There's no such thing as an unbeatable deck, but you can make some nasty ones if you construct your deck right and play your cards right.

Check out mtgvault.com, membership is free and if you post your deck on there people will critique it for you, sometimes the criticism is harsh, but more often it's helpful. My user name on there is Claws, look up some of my decks to get some ideas if you want.

  2. what ever you do dont go too exspensive!

  3. trim it down a bit and get rid of some of the 1 of's.
