Question:

I just started playing bass, and wanna get a stool, is an average padded 29-30" barstool good to use?

When playing the bass, the stool height is really dependent on the performer's height.  If it is the right height where you can sit down and be about the same height as you would be standing up then it's the correct height. The second thing you need to look for in a stool is that the padding makes it so that you can comfortably sit on the edge of the stool and have a straight, vertical back (the stool should have a rise going towards the center).  If your bar stool follows those two conditions, then it would be a good choice.
