More specifically, how to play in tournaments and compete to get better? I feel I am coming along on my game very quickly considering I am a natural athlete, however, I do not know much about the golf world. Links to useful websites would be great!

  1. Keep in mind that you may get discouraged if you play in tournaments and that is ok. My handicap is 2 right now and the first tourney that I played in, I shot an 87 on my home course. the more you play, the less nervous you feel but there is just something different about tournament golf. there will be people on here that say that isnt so but a lot of pro's say that if you are nervous, something is wrong with you.

Take lessons. Find a teacher you like and stick with him/her.

  2. Talk to the pro in the golf shop.  You will get the best advice, and maybe lessons.  Golf is hard to pick up unless you are physically shown the moves.

  3. Well,  there are many ways to shape up your golfing skills.  Below I have included a few websites full of good information and a few links to books that you may want to purchase in order to learn more about golf!  But, I have to admit, that the key to becoming a good golfer is to just practice, practice, practice!  As some people say, practice makes perfect!

  4. I suggest reading everything with the word GOLF on the title.  That way you get the best learning expereince.  That and i would start watching the golf channel  and maybe buying some golf dvd's.

  5. rsead the rules of golf book and practice, practice, and then practice some more.

  6. Actually, I wouldn't use websites. I would subscribe to golf digest. WONDERFUL magazine. It is so darn helpful. If I have a issue slicing, or not getting out of sand good, there is always something to help. Now it depends where you live. You could join a mini tour if you want more experience. If I knew where you lived, I could get you the website. To play in tournaments, look up your area on the internet. You should get some around you. I know that there are specific tournaments each summer every year where I live and there are money prizes to.

I hope this helps even though I didn't get a website. Go get golf digest from you grocery store. You wont be sad you did it!
