I just started running as exercise,which is more important, distance over speed or vice versa?

  1. It depends on what you want to do


  2. A combination is best. Distance work will strengthen your heart and improve your stamina and endurance. Speed work will give your body that healthy, vascular look. Mix it up depending on how u feel. A combination of the two is normally what I do. And I'm healthy as a horse  

  3. For new runners, it takes time to get into shape, the key is consistency and a slow increase in speed and distance.  As you create your training regimen, tailor it to what you want to get out of it, but remember to keep it light in the beginning to avoid injury and keep it enjoyable.
