  1. Well Done.

I don't know from experience about how hard it is to give up, but I know for a fact that it is hard because my best mate is trying to give up, with out success by the way. He's 16, so he shouldn't be smoking anyways. I'm not addicted, which is why I don't know alot of what he's going through with that.

It is ok if you mess up a couple of times, because it is not easy to give up once and for all. Read the instructions, that came with the box of patches. If that doesn't help, then I think it is ok to put a new one on. Just try to cut down on the cigarettes if the patches don't work for the first time. Don't worry you can always go back to them. :P

    Good Luck

  2. I just went on Chantix to quit smoking. It's a miracle drug. I tried those patches and gum and everything else. Never worked.

My las t cig was 25 days ago after being on the Chantix for 2 months. I don't crave cigarettes and I have no side effects. If you are serious about quitting, go to the doc and get on Chantix.

  3. Put your cigarettes in a blender then bin them. Then you wont be tempted to smoke them because they're gone. But I don't smoke so I wouldn't know if you've ruined the Nicoderm thing. You could put another patch on. I don't think it would cause any harm. But you should read the instructions it came with.

  4. Sure, you can put a new one on if the old one won't hold. Push it down firmly. You may find that cleaning the skin with alcohol beforehand helps adhesion.

Don't they recommend putting them on in the morning? Putting them on at night could cause insomnia and vivid dreams.

You aren't supposed to smoke while on the patch because it can cause a heart attack, but everyone I've known did. In fact I read that the success rate may be higher for people who keep smoking for a week after they start using the patch.

You may also find that the patch isn't for you. I could never use it myself. The Commit lozenges (same company) are more effective in studies. They taste horrible at first but the taste goes away after the first day.

BTW, agree with the person who mentioned Chantix. If the nicotine replacement products don't work for you, I agree with their recommendation.
