I just started taking mirtazapine 15g. How well does it work?

and are there really bad side affects? I'm also taking bupropion sr 100mg. Is that a good deression pill and how long does it take to feel it working. Is it also good to take both of these pills together?

  1. Mirtazapine (remeron) is a fine medication for depression. It has similar side effects to zoloft / paxil. It mainly causes drowsiness / dizziness and can cause some weight gain (upwards of 15-30 lbs in most people). As with all anti-depressants it can take 3-4 weeks for it to work and the side effects are the worst for the first 3-4 weeks. Bupropion is commonly added to other medications when it isnt completely controlling the depression. There are usually little problems with taking these two meds together.

    Keep in mind that all anti-depressants have the potential to give a person the energy to commit suicide, so if you have suicidal thoughts make sure you speak to your provider immediatly.
