  1. depends on where, who and what you are teaching. elementary would look at it different than high school. private catholic would be different from inner city public school. students taking french lit would have a different opinion than the kids in shop class.

of course, that's all being stereotypical.

you got hired with them, so i wouldn't be too worried about what the students think. i'm sure there will be some that don't like you cuz you give too much homework or you're too easy. some students will look at you weird because you're the teacher.

  2. Maybe they might be aware of it at first, but it will fade quickly.

Also, it depends on what subject and grade level you teach, what kind of district you're in, and your general attitude on teaching.

Personally, if I was in high school and on that first day of class I walked in to find a teacher that had ink all over his arms, I would almost immediately assume I was going to have fun in that class.

They may feel like they relate to you more, or are on more of the same level.  If you just make sure you're known as the boss you can use that feeling of ease you give students to get them to pay more attention, be more active, and generally be a better student because they are willing to relax and open up.

Good luck!  Enjoy your first year!

  3. I'm sure you'll probably get mixed reactions.  Most of them will probably think it's cool and some will possibly be afraid of you.  I wouldn't worry about it.  They will get used to it.  It also depends on what grade you're teaching.

  4. well if u are worried 'bout them thinking it is weird just wear a long shirt

  5. they might

they might think it is cool

  6. nah, they'll probably be interested, tattoos are way more common and accepted now.  if you're worried you could always wear a long sleeved shirt till you know the kids better and are more comfortable with them knowing about your tats

  7. Chances are you'll be the cool teacher!

  8. I think it depends on what grade you are teaching and the kind of neighborhood you are teaching in.  I think younger children would be interested, but wouldn't think you are weird.  I think some older children would find it cool, and others might think you are strange.  I think the richer the neighborhood, the stranger they might find your tattoos.

  9. If my teacher had tattoos, I'd think it was awesome! Of course, they need to be appropriate...if they aren't just wear a hoodie or something.

  10. Just as long as you're not a preschool teacher! That would be pretty funny and I think you'd be getting weird looks from the parents not the kids.  Anyway when I was in high school I had a few teachers who had tattoos, men and women.  I had a teacher I think for Anthropology, he had  sleeves on his arms and legs, and another on his head.  He was a cool guy though, I'll admit he was a little intimidating from afar but then he was really nice and kinda goofy actually.  Funny guy, so even if you have those tattoos all that matter is how you treat the kids and how well you teach!  Bonus for you....kids nowadays probably will think you are the coolest teacher around!

  11. No they probably will show an interest in the tattoos and ask questions about them but that's all. I know about 3 or 4 teachers that have tattoos and I think it's awesome. I love to hear the stories behind the tattoo. It's fun to learn a little more about your teacher.

  12. To Maintain the decorum and integrity of the relationship and to have your students not getting distracting from the topic you are teaching than your tattoos.

    I would suggest:-

You start wearing Full Sleeves Shirt in your Classroom Sessions.

    Its definitely your decision though.

  13. What age? What are district policies and your principal's views about "sharing" them.

In a perfect world-I would show them. Use it to teach acceptance, that we shouldn't judge a book by its cover, etc.

  14. Well da. Kids will look at you weird because kids aren't use to seeing teachers with tattoos. Trust me. I know. I use to have a teacher like that and gross! Good luck
