Question:

I just stepped on either a bee or wasp, what should I do?

I saw it briefly, and it was big, so I'm pretty sure it was a bee, but I can't find a stinger, and I don't want to prod at the spot too much because it really hurts. Are there any ways to tell if it's a bee or wasp, and is the treatment different? So far I've washed it with soapy water, and right now I'm icing it.

  1. Unless you have any allergies, you should be fine and it will heal soon.

  2. i'm not sure if the ice would be effective--only because i've never tried that.  i do know firsthand that a pack of baking soda and water put on the area takes the pain out.

just put some b.s. in a bowl and add a few drops of water until it becomes a paste that you then can spread over the area.

as far as distinguishing between a bee or a wasp, i don't see what difference that would make regarding the treatment.  furthermore, you apparently aren't allergic to such stings, or you wouldn't be able to type this by now.  allergic reactions to bee and other insect stings happen VERY quickly, which is why some people carry with them injectable epinephrine -- a medication to reverse the effects of anaphylactic shock, which can be a fatal reaction to something the person is allergic to, including insect stings.

the b.s. & water is a long-time home remedy that should bring you instant relief.

after the pain subsides, have someone inspect the area w/a magnifying glass for the stinger and remove it with tweezers if it isn't already gone.  then you can redo another b.s. pack.

    hope you feel better!

  3. if you get the stinger out you will be ok have someone help you fined it and do every thing that you are doing i know it hurts im sorry

  4. Owww, sounds sore. Wait it out? Hopefully it should be better in the morning.
