Is there even any point me considering to compete in athletics. I know there are better athletes out there and have a good natural record.

Some one told me that how fast you are when your young, there is so much you can do to get quicker. Hes said you'll prob be bale to knock no more then a second off by training hard

Dunno if that'sats true or what

  1. yes it is

    Usain Bolt better watch out

  2. 11 secs for the 100 Mt's is good club standard generally you can get a club athlete down to 11 -- 11.2 without total commitment from the athlete it is getting an athlete under 11 secs is when he really needs to put in extra effort so you have a good base speed if you want to progress you need to be involved with an athletics club the sprints coach should take you on to the next level the winter training season (training for next years meetings) starts usually about October so go along and see if you fancy it I would be interested if you are not in an athletics club where your time came from for within athletics we have graded officials who work to a national standard and any either field or track measurement outside our parameters are to say the least a bit iffy but good luck anyway we are a dedicated bunch serious but with a bit of fun so get yourself involved

  3. "The exact time was like 11.4 seconds, so not 11 on the dott"

That's quite a big difference in the 100m my friend.  You'd be around 5 metres behind someone running 11 dead.

Then again what are you aiming for?  If you want to take on Usain Bolt, then he can sleep easy.  But if you want to sprint at a club level for fun, then h**l; go and enjoy yourself.

Think of coaches as sculptors: the fantastic work of art was already there - they just cut away the rough edges.

If you were doing 10.4 or 10.5, then training and coaching could help too edge you close to 10, but at 11.4 that's just not a good enough starting point I'm afraid.

Not wanting to destroy a dream, if you really want to compete in athletics, why not look at the other events?  You might find that you have a talent for say, shot putt, javelin or 10,000 metres.

  4. It is petty good but the avg 15-19 year old boy can run the 200m in 15 sec. it is an amazing idea to join a team because i did and ive improved by seconds i wish u the best of luck!!!

  7. Pretty good! Just keep doing high intensive training sessions with weights.

  9. sounds fantastic to me. Have you got in touch with a good coach ?  If not do it ASAP.

  10. nice man i just hit th 11sec mark 2 days ago but I'm 15, but yeah i am about to to have some intense training for the youth olympics in 2010, and also for the 2012 olympics

  11. I would seriously LOVE to run as fast as you! I have a passion for running!! And I really do think you could knock off more than a second off off your time.

Can you try answering my question if you have enough time?

  12. yea that's really good 11.0 is exceptional, 11.9 is great.

  13. very good, but is it exactly 100m and if handtimed ,by the time the eye tells the brain that tell the hand to stop the clock, you've lost 1/2 sec compard to electronic timing.still pretty good though.

  14. Yeah mate...... 11 seconds is brilliant for your age.

With a bit of coaching you could knock (probably) more than a second off.

It hasnt been long since the 10 second barrier was broke !

If you are serious though,   you HAVE to live the whole life of an athelete, and dont be like our last generation (Jamie Bulsh, Euwan Thomas etc) who just wanted to be famous........ You have to want to be the best and be stubborn about being the best.

Go for it mate and good luck.

  15. thats average
