I just turned on iTunes on my laptop in my dorm room, and 3 "Shared" folders in it...what are these?

What are these "Shared" folders? If I upload my iPod music to my new laptop, will mine become a shared folder for other people??

these "shared folders" are most likely to be the shared items of other guys using iTunes, I am assuming you are on some kind of a network like LAN. you should not worry about your iPod stuff getting shared, unless you explicitly share nothing will get shared.

those shared folder are other peoples itunes librarys that are open, if your share button in itunes is selected then yours shows up on theres. you can edit the sharing preferences underpreferences in itunes and go on the sharing tab.
